Road+ (RoadPlus+) is an Excess Protection product that reimburses you for out-of-pocket charges when something goes wrong with your rental car overseas. It covers rental excess charges, damage excluded by basic CDW (tyres, windscreen, underbody), rental company fees (admin, towing, loss-of-use), theft, vandalism, and weather damage. Policy limit is up to $10,000 SGD.
Road+ is distributed by AA Singapore (Automobile Association of Singapore) and underwritten by ECICS Insurance Singapore. This means your policy is backed by a licensed Singapore insurer with the distribution strength of AA Singapore.
Road+ is purchased before your trip at a fixed price, saving you from expensive daily rental counter charges ($20-40/day). It covers items often excluded by basic CDW like tyres, windscreens, and underbody. Claims are handled locally in Singapore via WhatsApp, not through an overseas call center.
The APAC Plan covers 22 countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, and Timor-Leste.
The Worldwide Plan covers all APAC countries plus Europe, UK, Canada, and most other countries globally. It excludes the United States and certain sanctioned territories (Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and certain Ukrainian regions).
Yes, Road+ requires you to have at least the basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) from the rental company. Road+ works alongside your rental coverage to reimburse the excess charges and fees that CDW doesn't cover. It does not replace rental insurance.
Most rental cars including sedans, SUVs, and EVs are covered. Excluded vehicles include: trucks, vans, buses, motorcycles, scooters, motorhomes, RVs, campervans, and performance/racing vehicles. Peer-to-peer car-sharing rentals (e.g. Turo) are not covered.
Yes, all additional drivers listed on the rental agreement are automatically covered under your Road+ policy. You must be the primary renter, and additional drivers must hold valid driving licenses.
